Child Custody

Custody.  It’s a scary word.  Use it in the same sentence with lawyer, judge, or court and that is a recipe for perpetual worry.  When you consider the expenditure of the $25,000 – $50,000 to fight this fight, you quickly realize you have spent your child’s college savings to do something you could have done yourself.

With our help, our clients create custody plans that both parents feel are fair and equitable.   Sometimes a parent has primary custody, sometimes the parents have joint custody.  It is a decision that you make, not the judge, lawyer, or mediator.  You make the final decision if your mediated custody plan works for you.

Is it necessary to have a lawyer to “fight” for custody of the children?  Usually not.  Remember, it doesn’t have to be a battle.  Don’t fight the fight that you don’t have to.
